Conor McGregor appeared to be absolutely certain that Shauna Bannon did enough to win her UFC debut in London, however the Irishman’s scoring didn’t quite line up with what the judges or most fans saw.
One of a number of debuting fighters on a card headlined by heavyweights Tom Aspinall and Marcin Tybura, Bannon put together an extensive amateur career before turning pro in 2022. Her win earlier this year at Invicta FC 52 brought her record to 5-0 and encouraged the UFC to come calling with a matchup against Bruna Brasil in London.
“Mama B” had moments of success throughout the strawweight bout and did her best work in the final round, but it was Brasil who walked away with a unanimous decision victory that included one 30-27 scorecard.

One of the major storylines around Bannon’s debut was the support she had from McGregor, who surprisingly indicated on Twitter that he felt his countrywoman had comfortably won two out of the three rounds.
“2-1 handy.”
