Brushing off retirement questions, Dustin Poirier has made it clear that he isn’t done yet in the UFC and wants to fight at welterweight before he does call time on his career.
Following his plans to go up to 170-pounds in the near future, “The Diamond” was called out by a former lightweight champion that moved up a weight class several years ago.
Rafael Dos Anjos is keen to fight Poirier but Josh Thomson and “Big” John McCarthy aren’t so sure of Poirier’s chances against the welterweight elite should he decide to leave lightweight behind.

On the Weighing In podcast, Thomson looked at the UFC rankings and how the Louisiana native would fare at the top of the 170-pound division.
Immediately, his eyes were drawn to Belal Muhammad who Thomson believes would show that Poirier is biting off more than he can chew against the bigger guys at welterweight.
“I don’t know you like look at those guys, I think Belal would end up mauling him just he’s physically big and strong”
