Michel Pereira Speaks On Middleweight Form After Successful Debut: 'Everything Was Better'

While a number of fighters emerged victorious at this past weekend’s UFC Fight Night event in Las Vegas, not many had a triumph as important as Michel Pereira.

The always entertaining Brazilian entered Saturday’s card with a number next to his name at 170 pounds, but his time in that division seemingly came to an end for good this past July in Salt Lake City.

There, Pereira missed weight by a considerable distance prior to a planned showdown with former two-time title challenger Stephen Thompson. And having seen the chance to enter the top 10 at the expense of “Wonderboy” fall away, “Demolidor” is now pursuing success at a higher weight.

In his UFC middleweight debut, Pereira shared the Octagon with late-notice replacement opponent Andre Petroski. The Brazilian dispatched the Pennsylvania native in just 66 seconds after flooring him with a brutal right hand.

Having started life at 185 pounds in as strong a way possible, Pereira is feeling optimistic about his future.

During his post-fight press conference at UFC Fight Night: Yusuff vs. Barboza, Pereira spoke about his first taste of middleweight action inside the Octagon.
