Even with his own fight just a short while away, Aljamain Sterling was as excited as anyone else in New Jersey’s Prudential Center when his teammate Matt Frevola stopped Drew Dober at UFC 288.
The lightweight matchup between Frevola and Dober was one of the more highly-anticipated fights for fans ahead of UFC 288, and the bout was given the featured prelim slot immediately prior to the start of the main card. “The Steamrolla” entered the night having stopped his last two opponents in the first round, but Dober’s own three-fight run of finishes had earned the 34-year-old the #14 spot in the UFC’s lightweight rankings.
Both lightweights put on an entertaining striking display for as long as the fight lasted, but it was Frevola who connected with a right hand that floored Dober and set up a TKO finish with less than a minute remaining in the opening round.
